Editor

Editors responsibilities:

. Commision articles
. Decide which articles will be included in the publication
. Consider submissions for inclusion from freelance journalists, photographers and illustrators

Editors experience:

. There are no standard entry requirements, though most editors have a wide experience in journalism
. As an editor for a specialist magazine you would usually have qualifications and/or experience in hat particular field
. You will need some business experience
. The ability to deal with artistic temperaments is good
. You should have great time management skills ane the ability to stay calm under pressure
. Having a brilliant artistic eye is ideal

Editors qualifications:

. You would need at least a BA in journalism
. The interviews are about a day long and they are filled with gruelling tests (e.g english exams and knowlage on current affairs) you will need to have atleast studied these subjects before

Staff writer

Staff writers responsibilities:

. They write a variety of articles for each issue of a magazine
. They pitch ideas for articles
. They prepare wat they have to pitch
. Staff writers have to get information on different assignments and then quite obviously they then write about it
. interviewing subjects for stories
. Writing web copy and articles in addition to print material
.developing a networko different sources

Staff wriers experience:

. Three to five years and even more of magazine and writing experience is needed
. Exellent writing and reporting skills
. Strong communication skills
. Creativity
. Initiative
. Ability to work within deadline pressure
. Ability to generate story ideas

Staff wrires qualifications:

. Bachelors degree in English or Journalism preffered
. Masters degree may be helpfull

Photographer

Photographers responsibilities:

. Photographers have to be able to convey exactly what the magazine managers want and be able to photograph the models precisely telling te right movements and posses
. They have to organise there shooting scheduals correctly
. Photographers have tp know what works ad what doesn't
. They have to give a good variets for the editors to choose from
. They must always follow the breifs that they are given
. Freelance photograhers have to keep up to all the new technology and equipment and also have a good knowlage of cameras throughout the decades

Photographers experience:

. The most popular degree for photograher is photography, but it's also important that they have a passion for jouralism and have gret knowlage of today's popular cultures
. A successful applicant will have a good journalistic experience and with an essential team player attitude
. Photograhers should have a lot of experience orking in this field (e.g working for a small local magazine)

Photographers qualifications:

. NVQ in photo imaging
. There are City and Guilds certificates
. BTEC's and HND's to do with photography
. Foundation degrees and univercity degrees
. They can do vocational photograpy, photographic processing and other related subjects

Features Editor

Features editor responsibilities:

. Overseeing the layout, appearence and content of feature articles
. Generating ideas for features within writing staff
. Commissioning articles from freelance and inhouse writers
. Managing staff and freelance feature writers

Features editor qualifications:

. Interships and placements are the recomended route into this type of fahion publishing
. Editors usually work their way up the working ladder but they will need knowlage and experience of the fashion business, fashion buying, PR, and ideally journalism (although not essential)

Features editor experience:

. You would need experience in writing and working for another publication
. A student newspaper or local newspaper is a great way to gain experience with journalism
. Some people use on-line journalism for experience
